Rian Butler

Rian Butler was blessed with a diverse upbringing that has allowed him to meet and connect with people across many different cultures. His name, Rian (pronounced like “Ian” with an R in front of it), comes from his Irish heritage. He was born in Ireland where his father’s side still lives. His mother’s side gave him his Texas roots. Rian grew up in Houston. He, his wife, and their dogs now love calling Southwest Austin home.

He has always rooted for the underdog and doesn’t like how the system favors big companies over individuals. Rian thrives on being part of the fight to help everyday people match up against these powerful corporations.

Before (and after) becoming a lawyer, Rian handled economic loss claims for individuals businesses that lost paychecks and income due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. His accounting background helps him understand, analyze, and argue for his clients’ economic losses.

In eight years against BP, he helped clients ranging from shrimp boat deckhands to seafood processors and distributors recover more than $50 million from various claims facilities acting on behalf of BP.

As an attorney, he has represented people against drivers who weren’t paying attention to their surroundings, companies that refused to fix dangerous conditions on their properties, and businesses that negligently entrusted their vehicles to unsafe employees.
